Birthday Brunch with an Equestrian Touch

The birthday girl on her pony Little Joe

The birthday girl and her little girl!

Peggy, thanks for liking Bloody Marys

The birthday girl's place of honor

Drink tags. yep, they match too.

We have to celebrate the big ones. You know, the ones that end in "0". This birthday brunch for my dear friend Peggy was beyond fun for me to create, and then to pull off, with another dear friend, Susan, and Peggy's daughter Courtney. An old photo of Peggy on her pony and the colors rust, bronze, peach, ivory and green was used for the invitation. It set the tone for the party. I tried to use leather and wood containers as much as possible and oh those velvety rust magnolia leaves I found for the flower arrangements was perfect! I'm a wanna-be florist so I had a grand day with calla lilies, chrysanthemums, roses, pods and eucalyptus branches. One arrangement I wrapped in brown leather belts to give the look of a horse halter and reins.
Here are just some of the paper and floral details of the fete. My favorite part was the BYO- Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar. Even bacon was included in the array of fixin's! Another thing that Peggy loves is a good crossword puzzle. So with a lot of "all about Peggy" clues and answers assistance from Courtney and Susan I printed up a crossword puzzle that Peggy's guests worked on while eating. At the end Peggy gave all the answers to the clues, which involved some explanations. "Now what was your one criminal activity?" hee hee!

Swirly, Floral Invitation that's Luscious

Casa de Amparo is a wonderful organization that my husband and I  heartily support. Their big gala, The Crystal Ball is coming up in November and they have a special pre-event party for their generous patrons. I've been able to create the invitation for this party again this year. These papers from Envelopments make me look good! This lovely Florentine has a playful side to it and the shimmer adds a touch of elegance.

Wine Not? A Wine Country Birthday Invitation

Serious partakers of birthday celebrating! Yep, that's these folks. I shared the save-the-date for this four-day gathering earlier. This is the invitation that includes the details and activities for each day as well as the RSVP card (it's a loooooong one!) and RSVP envelope. Wine drop stains and a wine stain style logo let the invitees know that clearly there will be wine tasting... and drinking. I heard it was a blast!

An Organized Logo

It's a bit difficult to design a logo when you haven't been given many "wants" from a client. Other than telling me that she liked a couple casual fonts I really had nowhere to start. Oh, except to have the design look like the tagline "making space for your life". What on earth does that look like? I don't know. Do you?

She's a professional organizer so the file folder and the sketched boxes would be things she deals with on a regular basis. Do you like that corrugated cardboard underline? Yep, upper right logo. She's had her hands on plenty of cardboard boxes over the years. And those cherries? Well, "life is a bowl of cherries" so that's the playful reason for those!

It has been fun working on this, I must say.

Put a Bow on it and make it PINK Baby Shower!

A diaper baby shower invitation is just so darn cute. This mother-to-be saw the "Bee" themed one that I did and asked for a hot pink bow instead of the bee. Hello! It's a girl so we might as well embrace the pinkness! and all those big bows that little cutie will be wearing. And she wanted polka dots too. Personally, I like the damask and polka dot combo so I carried it out through all the other paper party details.

Beachy Bridal Shower Invitations

With a focus on the honeymoon on St. Lucia in the Caribbean this bridal shower brunch went "beachy"!  It can be difficult to shower a bride with gifts in San Diego when after the wedding the bride and groom will be living in London.  How much would it cost to ship all those kitchen gifts? A boatload, I'm sure. So this shower focused on the honeymoon and the things this bride might be packing in her suitcase and also packing the "honeyfund" with some extra bucks. St. Lucia means aqua blue waters and pretty sunsets in peachy shades so that set the color theme. The aqua string gives a nod to a fishing net as well as "tying the knot"! Ahhhh, someone bring me a mimosa!

Feather the Nest... a Baby Shower

nesting bingo was played as the mom-to-be opened her gifts
moss balls, wine boxes, branches and some baby's breath decorate the dessert table

the paper feather, included in each invitation, is a raffle ticket for the diaper raffle
A different theme for a baby shower, that's what my daughter was looking for as we planned this bash for her BFF Kendall. Feathers, twigs, wooden boxes, and of course nests!  The invitation was done in moss green and khaki papers with moss green twine and a real feather. The feather printed paper I used as an envelope liner was a great find at Paper Source. It had a rustic, natural feel to it that lent itself to the theme of the shower. And that is what the feel of the baby's room is as well. The mom-and-dad-to-be have got the cutest nursery waiting for their little bundle. Neutral colors, gray and khaki, are the backdrop but the coolest thing is it even has a teepee in it! I'm in love with this twist on feathering a baby's nest.

Rehearsal Dinner Chalkboard Invitation

The MOG had a different invitation in mind for this rehearsal dinner invitation. Something more Mexican-fiesta-like. But the groom really wanted the chalkboard style. So she requested subtle strands of colorful lights to be added and this is the final result! Let's party!!

She's Turning Eighty, yes she is!

She loves peonies. Pink ones as a matter of fact. So that's where we started with this 80th birthday invitation that includes a shimmery green background paper to compliment the shades of green in the watercolor. She's a pretty hip grandma so a playful font was chosen for her. You go Gail!

Wine Not? A Birthday Party Theme

She's turning 50. He's turning 60. So "Wine Not?" do it up right in the Napa Valley wine country. It will be the perfect setting for four full days of recreation, wine tasting and celebrating this couple and their BIG birthdays. Rustic and playful were two words that this client used to describe the vibe she wanted in a save-the-date. A corkscrew in a logo and wine drop stains bring in the event location and theme even more. The formal invitation is coming soon!

Just Peachy! A Bridal Shower Invitation

Spring will have just sprung when this bridal shower happens next month. The pretty peach tones with just a touch of pink were chosen because not only does the bride like peach (one of her wedding colors) but the lovely home where the shower will be held has white and orange decor. What a beautiful backdrop for all the lovelies that will be in attendance!
