Woodsy Montana Wedding Invitations

a simple postcard Save-the-Date
a natural oatmeal paper on a pecan woodgrain paper
a map that maps out the weekend of activities
envelope liners are fun!
A logo that included an antler is how this wedding suite started. The couples logo combined with natural papers throughout set the tone for this lovely wedding in Bigfork, Montana. Sometimes I fall in love with a paper and right now it's the Envelopments Barque papers. Unusual and rustic and perfect for this wedding.

Mountain Wedding Paper Goods

A wedding in the Colorado Rockies! I can imagine the breathtaking views! This couple's love for skiing is what caused them to plan their destination wedding in Breckenridge. Smitten with the lift ticket escort cards that I made for my own daughter's wedding (see the details here) the bride contacted me to create some for her. And of course the table signage, mini vintage ski resort posters, instruction sign and menus as well. A mountain in the logo for them too!

A Second Reception Invitation

Let the celebrating continue! When a wedding is just too far away for some friends and family to attend it sure is nice to have a post wedding party in the bride or groom's hometown. This couple was married in May in the Washington, D.C. area and their second reception is in San Diego, the bride's hometown. The mother of the bride wanted to incorporate the same designs that I used for their wedding day paper goods as she too has a love of birds. The crisp white and shades of green work for summer as well as spring invitations. A simple single card can be rather fancy when placed inside a thoroughly decorated envelope, don't you think?

Wedding Day Paper Accoutrements in Shades of Green

Two maps were needed for their welcome bag card, Old Town Alexandria, VA and an area of Washington, D.C.

Their C & C logo dangles from the program

Birdcages and birds with pretty shades of green and white florals were the theme for this wedding and reception in the Washington D.C. area. The bride shared photos of the fabulous and slightly rustic birdcages, a charming variety, she planned to use and I'm sure it looked fresh and lovely. With that touch of rustic thrown in it seemed the natural jute twine would be good to wrap around  on the programs to hold the circle tag. Their logo is on one side and an Ecclesiastes "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." verse is on on the other.

Picnic Save the Dates!

A set of wooden flatware wrapped in a napkin and tied with twine. Of course the recipients will save-the-date!
A matchbook style tag has all the pertinent info

Nestled in their boxes and ready to go!

Let me start by telling you that this couple met on a park bench in Boston Common. Randomly, a couple years later Joe found a lovely pendant to give to Kristen that captured a scene similar to theirs. Super talented Papercut artist Tina Tarnoff made the pendant using a print of her original papercut piece called "Divine Intervention". I was able to use it as a part of their logo on the tag. I can't believe how perfect it is! Check out her shop on Etsy.

Have you seen the Eco-friendly wooden flatware out there? I have, and I've seen pieces stamped with the cutest of phrases like "dig in", "eat more cake" and so perfect for a wedding "spread the love". Darling! For a French Picnic themed wedding this seemed like the perfect way to go, stamping the flatware with "Save the Date", "June 8, 2013" and this couples names "Kristen & Joe". The lavender gingham is perfectly picnic-y and reasonably priced too. Stems of lavender as well as the color lavender will be part of the wedding and picnic reception decor. I can't wait to see it all come together!

Woodsy Wedding Details

Upon arrival the guests need the 411
The program - this stylized photo was taken in the exact spot that the wedding guests were seated.

The "lift ticket" escort card, one side with the guest name and the other the image of the vintage mini posters of ski resorts that were at each table.

It hit me! I never shared the details to the woodsy wedding. I did a post of the invitations if you want to check them out but somehow never followed up.

These are some of the printed details that I created. And please do note the invitation and the program use the same stylized photo which was taken by the groom 9 months earlier when the couple decided on their perfect ceremony location.

For more fabulous photos and even more fabulous photos please go to the blog of their fabulous photographer, Braedon Flynn!

Happy First Anniversary! A Collage

The Daughter and her husband just celebrated their First Anniversary. It seems the first year is full of wedding related thoughts and things and then it's time to move on. I too love to reminisce about that fabulous weekend up in Sunriver, Oregon. It's easy because I still have the remainder papers and such floating about in my studio office. So I decided to take some of those papers and create a card for them. And as you already know, "paper" is the traditional first anniversary gift. You can check out their wedding invitation suite here.

School Themed Wedding Details

working the wordsearch puzzle!

This wedding at an old schoolhouse was so lovely! The printed details were quaint, chalkboards were everywhere, the flowers were so so pretty and the gorgeous bride and groom were ear to ear smiles the whole time. I posted the save-the-date and wedding invitations with their school details a while back, so of course the wedding and reception needed to remind the guests about old school days too. The program was mostly traditional but on the back was a Wordsearch puzzle. For extra credit, obviously! Fun custom imprinted purple and fuchsia pencils were available alongside the programs. There is always time while guests are waiting for the wedding ceremony to begin so what better way to keep them occupied. And lots of folks really did work on the puzzle! After the ceremony the guests went over to the wooden library card catalog drawers for their escort cards (in Dewey Decimal System style!) and found their seats at the alphabetically assigned tables. I just love the way this couple was willing to take their schoolhouse theme into so many details for their wedding.

Father of the Bride BBQ - The Real Thing

Can I generalize here? Men love barbecue. No wonder George Banks (played by Steve Martin) the father in "Father of the Bride" dreamed of a barbecue for his daughter's wedding reception. My husband settled for the night before event to be a barbecue at our daughter's destination wedding weekend at Sunriver Resort in Oregon. When I was in the planning stage of this event  I put up this post last summer.

The bride saw a yellow and white check tablecloth and the theme was set. I decided it would pop with black and we rolled with it. I think everyone had a ball playing ladder golf and cornhole, chatting it up about the day's activities, eating good food! I have a wonderful son in law who was thoughtful enough to wear black while I wore yellow and my daughter wore white. She is the bride after all!  My husband? Well, he just chose a shirt he feels good in!

All these photos are from our fabulous photographer Braedon Flynn
And the delightful twiggy basket florals are by Allison at Mint Floral

The buttons were a real hit so if you are considering doing something like that for a party of your own I say 'do it'!

This girlfriend worked with the bride, lived in the same cities in Idaho and Washington too.

And this guy was a college school friend from California.

I made the cornhole beanbags, stenciling the burlap with the bride and groom's initials.

The photographer caught the "B" beanbag in midair!

These lawn games were great because players can still hold a beverage and toss!
